Yale is more generous with its financial aid than most of the other colleges I got accepted to, and as a student from New Haven I am eligible for some scholarships that other students are not. However, the student income contribution is still a considerable burden. I have to work over the summer and during the semester if I want to avoid taking out loans, and I still barely save enough for textbooks. I would like to use my time outside of class to get involved with student organizations and do internships over the summer, but with the time I take out of the week to go to my job combined with the time I put into doing my classwork, I am unable to participate in the college environment that Yale claims to have created for everyone.
